Eastern Camden County Regional School District
Overview
Eastern Camden County Regional School District is a limited-purpose, public regional school district consisting of Eastern Senior High School and Eastern Intermediate High School. They serve a combined population of approximately 37,000 in the communities of Berlin Borough, Gibbsboro, and Voorhees Township. The District operates two high schools, Eastern Senior High School for grades 11 and 12 and Eastern Intermediate High School for grades 9 and 10. Both schools are located on the same site, but operate independently. Eastern presently enrolls about 2,250 students. Eastern has a multi-cultural and diverse population with 75% white, 12.6% Asian, 9.2% African-American, 3% Hispanic and .2% Indian American. The district was established in 1965, with 35 professional staff and 495 students. It has grown rapidly with two additions to the original plant and the completion of the Intermediate High School in 1992. The school district has a certified network of 1,000 plus Macintosh computer workstations. Eastern has a professional staff of more than 200. As a comprehensive secondary school, Eastern is approved by the New Jersey Department of Education.
The average academic class size is 24. Daily student attendance averages more than 93.5% and the annual dropout rate is less than 2%. Eastern is proud to claim a wide array of educational services which meet the needs of individual students. At Eastern, education is viewed as a lifelong process of acquiring skills, knowledge and experience. A formal, yet supportive atmosphere motivate students to acquire useful knowledge, develop social consciousness and take pride in their individual and collective success. Members of the Board of Education, administration, and professional staff are ever mindful of their responsibilities. They are joined in their efforts by active residents of middle and upper-middle class communities who are committed to pursuit of educational excellence.
